The Energy Transition:
Creating New Jobs for a Better World

About

As we transition to a clean energy future, one of the most significant impacts will be on the job market and the trades. The big idea behind this transition is to move towards renewable sources of energy that are sustainable and environmentally friendly. However, the problem is that this shift requires a workforce with new skills and training to design, install, and maintain these systems. One of the critical trades that will see increased demand is electricians.

The reason we'll need more electricians is that clean energy systems rely heavily on electricity and the infrastructure to transmit it. This includes everything from solar panels and wind turbines to battery storage and electric vehicle charging stations. Electricians will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of these systems, making them an essential part of the clean energy transition.

A Million Electricians supports multiple approaches to tackling this challenge. We believe that business, union, community partnership, non-profit, and government agency collaboration will be needed to provide the resources and training necessary to build a skilled electricity workforce for the the new energy economy. We're committed to working with all stakeholders to support the growth of the industry and ensure new opportunities for workers.
